Nationalism
Nationalism is the feeling of great love that people have for their country. Nationalism can be both positive and negative. For example, Italy and Germany became united because of the people wish to form a separate countries. These were good things because it helped make europe stable.
Nationalism can also be a bad thing because in countries like Yugoslavia, Nationalism and racism helped to breakup the country and lead to genocide and war.

The center of earth
For over 1000 years many people believe that the ancient greeks and the bible when they stated that the earth was in the center of the univerise. This was known as the geocentric theory. People believe that the planets and the stars all went around the earth.
In the 1500 hunderds, Nicolaus Copernicus he discoverd that the earth was not in the center of the univerise but the sun was the center of the univerise. This was known as the geocentric theory. Today all scientists believe in the geocentric theory.
After copernicus, Galileo used a telescope to discover that the earth was not in the center of the univerise. When he said this publicly, the church put galileo on trial and he was forced to say that he was wrong even though he knew that he was right.

The Scientific Revolution
Alot of people say that people in the 1500 got their ideas about science by Greeks and Romans some looked in the bible for answers. Like Greeks, they thought that earth was the center of the earth. They also thought that the sun and all the planets revolved around the earth. But that was not how it happened. Because of the scientific revolution that what made people think that earth always did. A really good example is Aristotle he made a theory that heavy objects fell faster then lighter objects like a bowling ball and a base ball. But about 1,500 years a man named Galileo went up to the leaning tower of Pisa and dropped one heavy and one light object at the same time and he made a theory saying that all objects fall at the same time,at the same speed and proved Aristotle wrong. Then during time scientists called it the scientific method. Another of those scientists was the famous Isaac newton he explained the laws of gravity and made us understand the modern day we now know as physics.
